State regulations establish fourteen non-recoverable annual holiday days, remunerated and mandatory, of which two elected by each city council.

Of the remaining twelve days, nine are mandatory and cannot be replaced unless they coincide on Sunday:

1 from January (Saturday)
Holy Friday (15 April in 2022; Friday)
1 of May (Sunday)
15 of August (Monday)
12 October (Wednesday)
1 of November (Tuesday)
6 from December (Tuesday)
8 from December (Thursday)
25 from December (Sunday)

On 2022 there are two national holidays that coincide on Sunday, he 1 of May (Labor Day), which in Galicia is replaced by the 17 of May, Galician Literature Day; and the 25 from December (Christmas), that is changed for the day of San Juan (24 of June).

What's more, three other national holidays can be replaced by the autonomous communities: he 6 from January, that never changes, except that it coincides on Sunday; Holy Thursday (what in 2022 will be held on 15 of April), that Galicia does not traditionally change; and communities are given the option between the 19 March and 25 of July. Galicia always chooses the 25 of July, for being their National Day, as established by Decree 8/1978, of 10 of July.
