Samos

Samos is a municipality in the province of Lugo, autonomous community of Galicia. It belongs to the region of Sarria.

Located approximately at 11 km from Sarria and 45 km from Lugo.

This town is a must for all pilgrims who walk to Santiago de Compostela, and many sleep in the lodging offered by the Benedictine monks, at the Royal Benedictine Abbey of San Julián de Samos, one of the most important religious centers in Galicia. This abbey is dated from the 6th century, time in which the Suevos populated the territories of what today we know as Galicia.
