Or wasteland is a municipality located in the center of the province of Lugo, in the autonomous community of Galicia. It belongs to the Region of Sarria.
The name of Páramo comes from the Latin Paramiensis. The first reference to this name is in an anonymous scroll of the year 1078.
The first reference made to the county of Páramo is in the Council of Lugo, that lasted from 569 al 572 after Christ. This council is discussed in the book by Xoan Pallares e Gaioso (1614-1698) titled “Argos Divine, Our Lady with the big eyes”, in which it says: “No Lucense Council, according to the church archive, reinando Teodomiro, the boundaries of each county were noted.” (“During the Lucense council, according to Church archives, reinando Teodomiro,the boundaries of each county were marked”). In roman times, approximately 170 Christians were killed on Mount Páramo
